The Essential Phone Coming to Telus, pre-orders in July

In July of this year, and exclusively at Telus, Canadians can pre-order the Essential Phone, a smartphone designed by the founder of Android, Andy Rubin. No fees have been released yet, but I will update this article when I learn more.

The Essential Phone holds a somewhat unique look with a nearly bezel-less 5.71″ QHD display. At top, there is a small “indent” in the screen where the front-facing 8MP camera is. The device should run everything smoothly with its 4GB RAM, Snapdragon 835 chip, and Adreno 540 GPU.

Aside from having nearly no bezels, other features attempting to make this device stand out is the ability to add on modules, such as what Motorola has done with Moto Mods. At this time, Essential is pushing their own 360 camera which attached to the back of the phone via a magnetic connector. Alongside this, they are boasting their titanium frame, claiming it will handle drops better than the competition.
