[Updated] Android Pay WAS working for some Canadians!

Update 14/12/2016 – It looks like Scotia bank or Google removed the ability to use Android Pay. Something had happened too soon. People, including Jace cannot use their cards with Android Pay anymore, and everyone is back to waiting…

Jace Hernandez just reported that after updating the Android Pay app this morning, he noted his card no longer said “Not supported”. Surprised by this, he explored further and found out it is indeed working! Another user over on Reddit also reported the same thing. Both are with Scotia Bank.

At this time, the following have been reported to be working;

  • Scotia Bank
    • Scene VISA
    • Infinite VISA
    • Debit Card

If you try to download the app from the Google Play Store, you’ll either not find it in search, or it will show up as “Not available in your Country.” Clearly, Google isn’t ready to officially launch Android Pay in Canada just yet – and that is most likely because it only appears to work with Scotia Bank right now. If you want to download the app and add your cards so it is all ready to go, you can download it at APK Mirror.

If you’re in Canada, and your bank card is shown as compatible, let me know! I’ll update this post as more info comes in!
